The Samsung i780 is Samsung’s newest thin, QWERTY smart phone that runs Windows Mobile. Before being officially announced, the Samsung i780 was aptly called, the Blackjack II, after all, it is the second of Samsung’s Windows Mobile Device and still retains the Blackberry-like form factor.
The Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) is one powerful device. HSDPA, WiFi, GPS and Windows Mobile 6 makes this phone a dream come true for Windows Mobile fans.

Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) are the Samsung “i” line of smartphones have taken quite a lot of different shapes and seen OS implementations ranging from Symbian to Windows Standard and Pro. Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) come with QWERTY keyboards and uniform design. There are of course the US-oriented Blackjacks Samsung i607 and Samsung i617. For Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) also has a 2 mega pixel camera with 2x digital zoom, built-in GPS, 256MB or ROM, 128MB of RAM, Marvell PXA 310 processor up to 624 MHz power, Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) is powered by Windows Mobile 6. Other connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0, and a miniUSB port.

The Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) is one of the more powerful Windows Mobile devices I’ve seen. Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) has three input options: Touch Screen, Touch Sensitive joystick, and of course, the QWERTY keyboard so users would have a variety of choice in handling the Samsung i780 (Blackjack II). You can use the touch screen with the included stylus or you may opt to use your fingers since the screen of this device isn’t recessed into the casing. The most innovative feature I’ve seen on the Samsung i780 (Blackjack II) is the touchpad or touch sensitive joystick.

    The Good:
    Nice keyboard.

    The Bad:

I am very disappointed with this phone, you cant answer the phone without switching of the LCD, the auto LCD off take a min of 5 seconds. Every time I answer this phone my ear pushed the touch screen and disconnects me.

When you hang up the phone gets confused, because the LCD has been switched off but when it switches back on it only switches on half way, pushing the power button twice solves the problem.

If you make a phone call the same thing happens, but the LCD has to be switched of the just as the connection is made or it won’t connect.

If you have a MP3 as a message tone you can’t get it to stop, EVEN IF YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PHONE CONVERSATION!! HOW PATHETIC IS THAT??? It just keeps on playing for 3 minutes while you are talking.

If you don’t go into the settings/ Task manger at least once a day to close all the programs, the phone freezes. This is because once you open a program and close it, it keeps on running in the background for some unknown reason that I don’t get.

MXIT does not work on this phone, you must get some advanced version somewhere on the internet.

Battery life is PATHETIC! even if the LCD is on low.

If used as a GPS the unit overheats and the voice will eventually stop working, then you need to reset it.

The GPS signal becomes very poor as it ages, it takes up to 30 min to find a signal, which is how long the battery will last if not plugged in.

It is very difficult to record a phone conversation, and if it works it only records for a few seconds.

The camera is useless compared to my old phone which also had a 2 Mp camera.

If you remove the memory card and you put it back in again, you must reset your ring-tones and alerts.

my message shortcut button does not work if I set it to MESSAGES! it only works for everything else.

The mouse pad is to slick for my sticky fingers.

This is my third Samsung, my first Samsung was a D500 which was OK, the I had a D600 which was Awful in every way, and now this piece of junk.

I thought that Samsung grew the past 2 years,

Don’t buy this phone unless you like a qwerty keyboard.
